Baseball Skill and Instructional Clinics - Specialized instructional sports clinics have been proven to be an effective means of communicating skills and information to large groups of young athletes. By partnering with local civic organizations and churches for field space, The Mordecai Brown Legacy Foundation will hold open invitational youth baseball clinics. Set in a community arena, instruction in baseball skills and ability development will be offered at little or no cost to the participants.

Professional, semi-professional, and amateur players and coaches, along with the Brown’s Barnstormers support team will instruct participants not only in baseball fundamentals, but also positive life values. Participants will gain knowledge of the sport and rub shoulders with the pros, but will also walk away with a greater appreciation for excellence in their personal lives.

The baseball clinic curriculum is based on Mordecai Brown’s original instruction for young people. Clinic instruction will also be coupled with contemporary mechanics and cutting edge learning techniques. By offering the clinic venues on a broad spectrum of training levels, The Mordecai Brown Legacy Foundation can positively effect America’s next generation of baseball players.

M.L.B. Mordecai “Three Finger” Brown Award - An annual award will be given to selected Major League Baseball players. The players who in the foundation’s opinion, most exemplify Mordecai’s integrity, civic awareness, willingness to lead younger players, and positive influence in their club’s community will receive the award along with a monetary gift given in their name to the player’s charity of choice.

The goal of the award is to encourage players and fans to work toward the betterment of others. The bestowment of each award in the public arena will also serve to keep the Mordecai Brown name and Foundation current and publicized.

Equipment and Uniform Support for High School and Community League Teams - Many youth teams in rural and urban communities struggle due to the mere lack of equipment. The Mordecai Brown Legacy Foundation seeks to provide uniforms and equipment to needy high schools and community leagues.

Mordecai Brown Museum Exhibit and The Baseball in Literature Museum and Research Library - Both venues will be housed together for convenience and security. The Mordecai Brown exhibit will chronicle the life, career, and accomplishments of Mordecai “Three Finger” Brown. The exhibit will contain an assortment of memorabilia, news related items, reproductions, and pictorial history of the late National Baseball Hall of Fame member. The exhibit will serve not only to educate about the life of Brown but also will create awareness of the life of the great pitcher.

The Baseball in Literature Museum and Library will be an ever growing collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and other media dedicated to the written history of the game of baseball. The library will serve as a place of research and preservation for written baseball media. The Museum and Library will be open to writers, researchers, preservationists, and those desiring to search rare volumes and articles. The Library will work with other institutions to development and preserve vanishing baseball media. The collection will see growth through individual donations and purchases.
